Most original musical acts would not hesitate to claim their music is “unique” or “different”, although unbiased listeners often would dispute that claim. Not in the case of MERMAID’S JOURNEY, however, as audiences can readily affirm. The band's prolific and diverse “sultry rock” often takes surprising turns from song to song. The music is always dynamic and creative; it may be fun, and it may be serious; it’s sometimes dreamy, and it can be a little sexy here and there.
Just who is MERMAID’S JOURNEY?
First and foremost, there’s Jennifer, the Mermaid. A beautiful blonde. Tall and athletic. Background in musical theatre. Powerful, trained voice. As delightful for the eyes as she is for the ears. Truly captivating. Watch her as she sings about life’s experiences, tells magical stories through songs, or dreams the dreams we all share.
Then there’s Jim, keyboard and guitarist master. Classically trained keyboardist. Rock touring experience. If he were a typical keyboardist, sitting in the background, playing sedate music, you wouldn’t even notice him with Jen on stage. But he uses keyboards as an aggressive foreground instrument. And he dances. He jumps. You can’t keep him still. And now he's dancing around the stage on guitar as well.
MERMAID’S JOURNEY is an exciting band -- both to listen to and to watch. You never know what to anticipate from one song to the next. Jen and Jim have lots of fun on stage, and they expect you to share in the good times.
